Matt began his battle with osteosarcoma when he was 18, in 2003. He endured many surgeries, chemotherapies, hospitalizations and radiation treatments. Through it all, Matt showed his true character and never complained and always thought of others. His desire for there to be no more suffering for young children prompted him to start his dream foundation, "Fishin' For The Cure". It has become an annual fishing tournament held in two states. Matt earned his wings August 11th2010 surrounded by his loved ones. Matt will leave a legacy and a footprint on this earth that will forever change the lives of many. Matt's final wish for his loved ones was to never forget to enjoy the little things, to "Dream as if you'll live forever and live as if you'll die tomorrow", and to "stay strong in the Lord." Matt fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
